At left, taxidermist Rhonda Almaraz, sculpts the facial muscles of this mountain lion consistent with the aggressive, intimidating appearance desired

Pioneer Taxidermy is comprised of three full time wildlife artists. Each of the artists contributes their individual expertise and strengths to each and every mount. All trophies preserved by Pioneer Taxidermy are the result of an orchestrated effort by all three artists. In addition to the three artists, we have a support staff of six associates who are highly qualified and talented in the preparation of specific components of the mount. The mount is carefully planned prior to mounting so that each artist knows what their contribution will be. During the mounting process every phase is aggressively scrutinized by all three artists to insure that lifelike accuracy is achieved. At Pioneer Taxidermy we not only believe, but live by the concept that a satisfied customer will return and bring others with them. Pioneer Taxidermy is not a production studio where you’ll receive the cheapest price for the sake of acquiring your business, in fact we are one of the highest priced taxidermy studios in the state, for very good reasons. As is the case with any product you purchase, higher quality demands a higher price. As you browse through our website you’ll understand the vast differences between our work and that of a production taxidermist. You will begin to realize how important the additional levels of accuracy, we incorporate into a mount, are to the finished piece. If you want your trophy preserved in a manner which accurately reflects the animal’s attributes in life, then Pioneer Taxidermy is for you. Whether we preserve your first deer or your entire safari we guarantee you will receive a unique piece of animal artistry you’ll be proud to display for a lifetime. Please call us with any questions you might have, we’ll always make time to talk with you.

Thank you, and good hunting               Larry Almaraz

Manikins, such as the mule deer on the left, are sculpted until every muscle group is accurately in place consistent with the pose selected.
